Moira Hindson has been appointed head of the forensic accounting team at top twenty accountancy firm, Kingston Smith LLP. Moira, who has 18 years experience in forensic accountancy, is taking over the responsibilities of Emile Woolf, following his retirement this month. Emile will continue to act as a consultant to the firm.
Moira’s wealth of experience during her eleven years at Kingston Smith LLP includes acting as an expert accountant, publishing articles about fraud and forensic accountancy and lecturing auditors and accountants on the Institute’s disciplinary process.
As an expert accountant she has been involved in numerous cases involving the quantification of lost profits arising from contractual disputes or breach of contract, particularly within the construction industry. Moira has also been appointed in an expert capacity in defamation actions, shareholder and partnership disputes and in matrimonial and other proceedings involving the valuation of privately owned companies.
In addition, Moira has been an expert in numerous assignments involving allegations of negligence against auditors and accountants. She has also been instructed by solicitors acting for company directors facing allegations of fraud, misrepresentation or false accounting. Many of these have been high-profile fraud cases, both civil and criminal.
According to Moira, “Emile and I have worked closely over the last eleven years to create one of the most formidable forensic teams in the business. As head of the department, I plan to work closely with other partners and members of the team to build on the excellent reputation of the forensic department. With the anticipated increase in litigation activity in the wake of the credit crunch fiasco, the Kingston Smith forensic team is looking forward to a busy time ahead.”
Michael Snyder, senior partner at Kingston Smith added, “Moira has been a partner at Kingston Smith for the last six years and is ideally placed to head up our forensic team. She is widely respected in the industry and I wish her every success in her new role.”
