At Kingston Smith LLP we operate four stage's of recruitment for the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) selection process:
Stage One:
Reviewing your CV and covering letter.
Stage Two:
Ability Test. We will ask you to complete numerical and verbal reasoning tests. The tests will take approximately 1 hour and you have to pass these in order to progress on to stage three.
Stage Three:
1st Interview. This is conducted by a member of our HR team and takes approximately one hour. Normally this is held on the same day as your ability tests.
Stage Four:
2nd Interview. There is a second interview with Jon Sutcliffe, Partner. After the interview you will be given the opportunity to meet a current AAT trainee. If you are successful at the second interview stage, a job offer will be made.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for a minimum of at least 5 GCSE passes grade A-C, including Maths and English at grade B or above, with two B’s at A-Level or equivalent. We will also consider applicants with a 2.2 degree result or above in any discipline.
We do accept foreign equivalents for all the above qualifications. However, we are only able to consider applications from candidates who already hold a valid three year work permit.
Personal Skills:
In addition to the academic criteria, we look for the following qualities in applicants:
- A logical numerate mind that can deal with and interpret figures accurately.
- An analytical, inquisitive outlook, always looking beyond the obvious.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong self-motivation - a determination to succeed
- Strong commercial and financial awareness
- The ability to gain the confidence of and co-operate effectively with all levels of clients.
