Case Study
An engineering company with over 100 employees had been going through a period of expansion. The employee records were maintained by a secretary with no formal training and who was retiring. The company was looking for a computer based alternative for maintenance of data and a member of staff to train in HR matters.
Kingston Smith presented an alternative solution of outsourcing the data and reducing internal paperwork with the e-HR offering.
Employee data would be held on software retained and secured in the Kingston Smith computer network. Employees would access via the web, their own data to check on remaining holiday entitlement and make changes of address and bank details, removing the work from the HR administrator.
The software enables employees to book their holidays on-line, prompting an e-mail to the relevant manager to approve, thereby removing the enquiry process and paperchase of holiday request forms. These type of work-flow applications were then expanded to absence statements and training requests.
Finally the HR consultants also had access to this data and were able to advise the company on absence policy by identifying patterns of absence, retirement policy and other matters by obtaining prompts from the software in advance of events and thereby avoiding employment disputes.
