Buyer found for renowned Mayfair tailor

Ian Robert of Kingston Smith & Partners LLP, administrator of Mayfair tailor Douglas Hayward Limited, is pleased to announce that a buyer has been found for this long-established, high-quality business.

The sale of the business out of administration to Mount Street Tailors has safeguarded the jobs of all of Douglas Hayward’s employees, as well as the unique spirit of the Mayfair establishment.

Ian Robert said: “We are delighted to have been able to preserve the traditions of tailoring excellence established by Doug Hayward over 40 years ago. Those loyal customers who have shopped at Douglas Hayward can continue to do so for many years to come.”

Founded in 1966, Douglas Hayward’s client list has included legendary names such as Lord Olivier, Sir Michael Caine, Richard Burton, Sammy Davis Jr and Charlton Heston. After Doug Hayward’s sudden death just over a year ago, his daughter Polly Hayward took over the running of the business. Ian said: “Polly is delighted that her father’s good name will live on.”
