Former England manager appoints Kingston Smith liquidator

Ex-England manager Sven-Goran Erikkson calls in Ian Defty of Kingston Smith & Partners LLP to liquidate the company of his former financial advisers.

Ian Defty of Kingston Smith & Partners has been appointed liquidator of Pier 24, Sven-Goran Erikkson’s former financial advisers.

The ex-England and Manchester City manager brought the petition to wind up the Oxfordshire-based business – of which he was a former shareholder – after Pier 24 owed him personal debts of £887,815.

Defty said: “The size of the debt means our investigation into who was involved in the company and why it failed will be centred on how such a large petition debt arose in the first place.

“Our understanding is that the company had overseas interests so our focus will be widespread.”
