Kingston Smith client works with Evening Standard to help London’s dispossessed

Kingston Smith LLP is delighted to be associated with the Community Foundation Network, which is working with the London Evening Standard to fight poverty in the capital.

The Community Foundation Network has been collecting donations for the Evening Standard’s Dispossessed Fund. So far £4.5m has been raised –outstripping the original target of £1m. More than £1.75m has been donated by the public and businesses, with the government matching donations through the Grassroots Challenge*.

The Community Foundation Network will be working with the Evening Standard through London community foundations and Grassroots local funders to distribute grants in five key areas: education/unemployment; tackling guns and knife crime; improving health; homelessness; and pensioner hardship and the working poor.

Nick Brooks, a partner and head of not for profit at Kingston Smith LLP, said: “The Dispossessed Fund is an excellent cause bringing much-needed support to thousands of Londoners living in poverty. The Community Foundation Network plays a crucial role in this initiative and we’re proud to be associated with them.”

Notes to editors:
*The Government's £50 million Grassroots Grants Endowment initiative provides a direct cash incentive for individuals and businesses to give money to build endowed funds. This will create long-term funding for local voluntary groups.
