Legendary director Mike Figgis showcases photographic work

To mark the end of the BFI 53rd London Film Festival, legendary director, writer and composer Mike Figgis has exhibited a selection of his photographic work at the offices of media accountants Kingston Smith W1.

Mike exhibited 14 images – taken over a period of more than 30 years – at the firm’s Art Open House event, including photographs of Muhammad Ali (taken in west London on the day John Lennon was assassinated), Kate Moss and Natalie Imbruglia.

Mike has roots in experimental theatre and music, which are just two primary influences that contribute to the creative vision in his feature films and documentaries. He has emerged as a visionary filmmaker who thrives on taking artistic risks, although he has also been at the helm of mainstream movies such as ‘Leaving Las Vegas’ and ‘One Night Stand’, both of which achieved international critical acclaim.

More recently, Mike has focused on his photography, with a photo story built around Duran Duran scheduled for the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar, as well as a campaign for Glenmorangie, part of Moet Hennessy UK Limited.

Graham Tyler, partner at Kingston Smith W1, said: “We are delighted that Mike chose to showcase his work at our offices. This was an opportunity for our clients and contacts to appreciate the scope and detail of his work in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.”

Mike’s photographs will continue to be displayed at Kingston Smith W1’s offices until spring 2010.
