Adrian Houstoun

Adrian Houstoun is the partner responsible for Kingston Smith's VAT and Customs Duty department and a member of the litigation and insurance support team.
Specialising in tax and VAT, Adrian works with many charity and property clients. They include household name charities, associations, care homes, housing associations and RSL's. Advice for housing associations is important, as many are involved in development and this is likely to increase with the support of the Prime Minister.
Adrian has mainly corporate clients in manufacturing, distribution and other service industries. Adrian also acts for a number of Rugby clients, including players and clubs, and is an active member of the firm's Sports sector group. Adrian tends to deal with one-off complex matters which include having been appointed by the Secretary of State as a Companies Act Inspector to investigate insider dealing in the shares of a public company. In addition, he handles forensic and investigative type assignments.
He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has been appointed as arbitrator, which has also proved invaluable with VAT tribunal work and litigation support assignments.
