ClearComm GDPR portal launches to help charities and businesses manage personal data

Kingston Smith group company, ClearComm has launched its GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) self-certification portal – the first product of its kind on the market.

The portal is a cost-effective way for businesses to ensure that how they manage personal data complies with the GDPR, which comes into force in May 2018.

Benn Davis, ClearComm director said:  “From £200 a year, depending on the business or charity’s size, owners can get peace of mind knowing they’ve taken GPDR seriously to avoid the reputational damage of misusing people’s data and the potentially huge fines the GDPR can impose.”

Kingston Smith Managing Partner Maureen Penfold said: “Having ClearComm as part of the Kingston Smith group, makes good business sense for us and our clients. Together we’re able to offer a broader service to our clients to help them reach their potential.”

The portal includes:

  • a full self-assessment compliance programme guiding the organisation through the intricacies of GDPR
  • a library of procedures and policies that can be adapted easily to the company’s needs using an interactive wizard tool
  • a dynamic ‘dashboard’ showing in percentage terms how compliant the business is in their compliance journey
  • task management and action plans
  • full, transparent reporting with version control

There is also an optional Data Protection Officer service within the portal allowing organisations to appoint ClearComm as their DPO, advising on implementation, giving ongoing advice and delivering transparent breach reporting.

The GDPR replaces the Data Protection Act from May 2018. It will affect how organisations create, capture, store and share personal information.

The new law also gives individuals easier access to their personal data records held by organisations (eg HR payroll data: date of birth, address and bank details).

In September top 20 UK accountancy firm Kingston Smith strengthened its business advisory offering by investing in GDPR experts, ClearComm.
