Andrew takes a close interest in his wide-ranging client base and the issues they are trying to resolve, and shows a passionate determination to provide solutions to their problems. His 30 years as a private client tax practitioner has allowed him to develop a deep understanding of planning opportunities and of the way in which HMRC works. Andrew sees part of his role as sitting between HMRC and the client, while keeping the client involved to the extent that they wish. His good sense of humour and easy disposition helps put clients at ease, especially when they are facing complex technical issues.

Having come originally from an accounting and auditing background, Andrew has the analytical skills to get to the heart of an issue. He particularly enjoys working with private clients and advises across all areas of tax, including wider financial and testamentary planning as well as income tax and capital gains tax advice.

The Private Client Tax team, which Andrew heads up, has lead to the firm being nominated as one of eprivateclient’s top 25 accounting firms for the second consecutive year. Andrew is also a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and is also a regular commentator in the broadcast and print media on critical tax-related industry issues and regulatory changes.

Outside work, Andrew enjoys photography, travel, playing bridge, military aviation and watching wildlife.
