Michaela leads the Forensic Recovery Services team and has extensive technical and practical expertise in both contentious and non-contentious insolvency appointments. Her clients recognise and value her hands-on approach and thorough technical ability to consider cases commercially from all perspectives.
Based in St Albans, Michaela has more than 20 years’ experience of insolvency work, dealing with both debtor and creditor led bankruptcies and Individual Voluntary Arrangements as well as being an appointment-taking Insolvency Practitioner for over 15 years.
Through her contentious insolvency work, Michaela is regularly appointed by solicitors, government and other regulated agencies to investigate companies and individuals that have caused losses to creditors through fraud, corruption or malpractice. On the non-contentious side, Michaela has experience with liquidations, administration and Company Voluntary Arrangements. She has particular expertise in trading administrations and has managed numerous cases that have involved professional practices, licensed trade and trading-on manufacturing businesses as well as retail outlets.
Michaela has successfully worked on cases where detailed investigations have led to further realisations, either as a result of revealing additional assets or successfully bringing claims against directors who have defrauded the company and its creditors. She is a qualified chartered accountant, a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants, a Licensed Insolvency Practitioner, a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals and a Registered Property Receiver.
In her spare time, Michaela is a keen gardener and likes to cook. She is also an avid rugby fan and enjoys watching both local and international matches.
