Nick is an experienced adviser with strong communication and technical skills and an awareness of the importance of good, timely proactive advice. He works closely with his clients and enjoys watching their businesses grow. Nick sees himself as his clients’ first port of call for advice and believes strongly that his role should be that of general adviser rather than just an accountant.
Nick has spent his career in large and mid-tier firms and has worked with a wide range of clients, including those who want to set up a business in the UK or who are looking to expand internationally. His primary focus areas include the full range of business issues, from audit to maximising R&D tax credit claims and helping with disposals and acquisitions. He has acted as an expert witness for a Middle Eastern Telecoms Regulatory Authority in an arbitration that involved a telecoms audit and accounting issue.
Nick works principally with mid-sized corporates and their owners but also has a great interest in entrepreneurs and fast-growing businesses, particularly in the technology, media and telecoms sectors.
Nick is also an accredited ATOL Reporting Accountant working with clients in the Travel sector, offering guidance based on an understanding of the industry and specific requirements of the ATOL Reporting Accountants scheme.
Nick is interested in the benefits of mentoring in business, and acts as a mentor with Virgin StartUp and the charity, Resource. Almost ten years ago, he set up an entrepreneurs’ networking club, ‘Bigfish’, which helps entrepreneurs and owners of private businesses meet like-minded people with a view helping them improve their businesses.
Outside work, Nick is a keen golfer and loves to watch Chelsea FC, where he is a season ticket holder, with his daughters. He also enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.
